York Visitor Guide 2017

The York Visitor Guide has one very clear aim: to inspire and encourage people from outside of York to come and visit this unique, beautiful city. As people across the UK decide where to go for their leisure time and their weekend breaks, this magazine will put York at the forefront of their minds and stimulate them to choose this city above all others.

2016 has been a big year for York so far: the return of the Flying Scotsman to the National Railway Museum, the York Mystery Plays in York Minster, the re-opening of York Theatre Royal and the second year of a bigger and better Great Yorkshire Fringe comedy festival… to name just a few of the great things that have happened in the city.

This is why in 2017 we are improving and putting so much emphasis on this magazine, and it is why it is an essential advertising tool for anyone involved with tourism in and around York.

What is new for 2017?

2017 presents fantastic opportunities to anyone involved in tourism in York. It is set to be a brilliant year of activity with:

  • The return of the Vikings! Jorvik centre re-opens
  • Yorkshire Museum's brand new Viking exhibition
  • Early Music Festival's 40th Anniversary
  • The re-opening of the Mansion House
  • Eboracum Roman Festival returns for a second year
  • A new Wildlife and Conservation Centre at Askham Bryan College

This is just to name but a few of the exciting things happening in York. That's why we aim to make the 2017 guide the best yet. It is vital that we make potential tourists aware of just how much is going on next year. It is an opportunity we should all try and take full advantage of.

Following the success of the new look guide for 2016, the magazine will have an inspiring design to complement the national Original City Adventure campaign. There'll be 96 pages of new and interesting content and we have opened up new distribution channels to ensure that each of the 100,000 copies we are printing reaches people from outside of the city who can be motivated to visit.

Please do share and upload the digital edition of the Visit York Visitor Guide 2016 to your own websites and social media channels - this will be a great resource for your guests and potential visitors, giving them lots of inspiration for things to see and do while they are in the city.
