This month we’ve taken York across the Atlantic for two high profile travel trade events, ensuring that key agents and tour operators from North America have York firmly in their sights as they plan their 2015 and 2016 travel itineraries.
At Destination Britain & North America (DBNA) we held seventy meetings over 2 days with a wide range of operators from luxury elite tour planners to church group tours. Held on 14-16 September, the Scottish Independence vote proved to be a hot topic, spurring planners on to look at York as a touring base. Early feedback indicates that several planners want to put York in their 2015 programmes, and further follow ups will take place over the coming months.
We also attended the high profile World Routes event, in partnership with Leeds Bradford Airport and Leeds and Partners, giving us the opportunity to profile York as a key destination for inbound tourism. Meetings took place with major airlines from across the world including Lufthansa, Qatar, Air Italia, SAS, Fueling and Helvetic.
