The Moors National Park Centre in Danby has plenty going on this half term with spooky spiders, bulb planting and a fungus foray plus lots of fun for all the family with a free event to celebrate the Big Draw campaign. In addition, there will be a free trail around the Centre's grounds linked to the BBC's Live ‘n' Deadly series that involves finding clues to solve a wildlife crime.

The fun kicks off on Monday 24 October at 10.30am with a short woodland walk from the Centre to look for mushrooms, toadstools and other fungus. Children can also make some model fungi to take home. The event costs £4.50 per child.

At 1.30pm on Monday 24 October, children can decorate a plant pot using natural materials and use it to plant spring bulbs. This event costs £5 per child.

Drop in to the Centre anytime from 10.30am to 3.30pm on Wednesday 26 October to help create a giant map of the North York Moors complete with buildings, trees and animals. This free event is part of the Big Draw campaign which invites people of all ages to discover how drawing can connect them with their surroundings and the wider community.

The week finishes on Friday 28 October with two sessions (starting at 10.30am and 1.30pm) taking a closer look at our native spider population. Children can have a go at making a giant cobweb. The event costs £4 per child.

Sally Ann Smith, the National Park Authority's Exhibitions & Events Coordinator, said:

"With easy woodland and riverside strolls from the Centre door, why not blow the cobwebs away and combine an event with a ramble in the stunning North York Moors scenery?"
