With Thyme having flowered earlier than expected this year, Yorkshire Lavender's annual Thyme Festival has been brought forward to Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July. Join us in this unique celebration of ‘Thyme', designed to provide visitors with a fun way of learning tips, advice and information on how to grow your own. The free weekend of festivities will explore Thyme through the ages, looking at the benefits of Thyme and how Thyme has been used throughout history for both medicinal and culinary purposes.

Thyme is very easy to grow in both shade and sun, requiring little maintenance. Add to this expert advice which will be available throughout the weekend as well as the many varieties of Thyme which will be on sale for visitors to buy in our Specialist Plant Nursery and you've got a great day out.

Thyme has been used for various purposes throughout the centuries. In medieval times, Thyme was regarded as a plant that imparted courage and vigor. Whilst the ancient Romans considered it a remedy for melancholy, Thyme, along with roses, was often added to homes in the ancient past to provide a sweet-smelling aroma and for incense.

The weekend celebration will impart valuable tips, advice and information about Thyme and visitors can learn much more about its history, medicinal and culinary uses. There will be many varieties of Thyme available for sale at our Specialist Plant Nursery.

The Thyme Festival is the second of three unique festivals being held by Yorkshire Lavender this year.

The novel festivals are growing year on year in both awareness and popularity and are firmly fixed on visitors ‘must visit in Yorkshire' calendar. With the Mint Festival, the Thyme Festival and internationally renowned English Lavender Festival , all three provide very different experiences for visitors to enjoy.

Yorkshire Lavender boasts the largest collection of lavender and herbs in the North of England. Hundreds of varieties are on sale for visitors to buy along with the unique opportunity to meet the growers in the nursery and collect both advice and top quality plants.
