New online help for coach drivers and operators

28/07/2010

Coach drivers and operators now have access to new online help to guide them around York, with thanks to City of York Council's Transport Planning Unit.

New information is available at www.york.gov.uk/transport/coaches/ giving drivers and operators access to information about parking, drop-off, picking up points and restricted roads.

The web page includes useful links to tourist and group travel assistance sites and provides full details of how to apply for a permit to enter restricted areas when carrying groups with special needs. There are also two detailed maps, suitable for downloading, to accompany the information.

Nigel Purssell, acting Transport Planner at City of York Council, said: "The aim of the new web page is to make it as easy as possible for tourists to visit York. It's really useful for coach operators when travelling to York and as a guide for tour operators to see where coaches can or can't park.

"The council's Transport Planning Unit welcomes any feedback on the web page, particularly suggestions for additional information or improvements to the layout.

Please send any comments to transport.planning@york.gov.uk"
