Enjoy big fun with little trains all week with our fun-packed programme of toys, models and rides including mini rail rides, pedal train driving and much more. See below for full timetable of activities. This event is sponsored by Hornby.

Chuggington Play
Meet Brewster, Koko and Wilson as they race around the track causing mischief and mayhem. Great Hall 10am - 4pm.

Bigjigs Play
Get hands-on with a huge range of wooden tracks, trains, tables and much more. Great Hall 10am - 4pm.

Hornby Model Display
Get up close to tiny trains with this fascinatingly realistic model display, full of intricate detail.
Great Hall 10am - 4pm.

Bachmann Model Display
Watch Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends whizz by on this impressive model layout display. Great Hall 10am - 4pm.

Tomica (24 - 27 Oct only)
Build your own enormous world of action and adventure. Great Hall until 4pm.

Meccano (Weekends only)
Get involved with workshops and huge displays (up to 11 models!). A great introduction to models for the family. Great Hall 10am - 4pm.

Pedal Trains
Get pedaling with these fun foot-powered steam locos. Kids aged 3 - 7 get to be a train driver on this imaginative play ride. Great Hall 10am - 4pm.

Special Guest: Chris Vine (22 - 24 Oct only)
Meet he author of the Peter's Railway books. He will be bringing in his 5" gauge train and talking about modeling and his famous books. Great Hall 10am - 4pm.

G1mra Steam Layout
Watch a variety of locos and carriages on this huge layout, plus daily demonstrations. Great Hall 10am - 4pm.

Miniature Train Rides* (Weekends only)
All aboard for a miniature train ride in our Great Hall. *A small charge applies. Great Hall 10am - 4pm.

Steam Rides*
Take a steam ride in the South Yard. 10:30am - 1pm and 1:30pm - 4pm. Each ride is around 8 minutes. *A small charge applies.

Craft Activity
Make your very own spooky Halloween diorama model to take home. Takes place 10.30am - 4pm in the Great Hall. £1 per person.

Adventure Playground
Let off steam on our slides and climbing frames. Open all day.

Simulator*
Experience breathtaking rides on our rocking and rolling Simulator. *A small charge applies. 9.30am - 6pm.

Science Shows
Explore how engines move in our explosive science show, Rocket to Bullet at 1:30pm and 3:30pm in the Learning Platform.

Storytelling
Enjoy interactive railway stories with Clickety Clack at 11:30am and Quick! The Queen is Coming! at 12:30pm and 2.30pm in Station Hall.

Bbq
Treat yourself to our delicious bbq treats in South Yard. Open daily, weather permitting.

Outdoor Miniature Railway*
Take a trip on our 7¼" gauge train in the South Yard. (Weather permitting). 50p per person.

Road Train
Ride into York city centre in style on the NRM's Road Train. Departs every half-hour 11:00-16:00 from Museum entrance. Adults £2, Children £1.
