Yorkshire Museum
From Bed Bugs to T-Rex!

From the magic of the microscopic to the majesty of the massive at the Yorkshire Museum this half term, when marvellous mini beasts and dangerous dinosaurs enter the new Discovery Lab.  
Different activities will be taking place throughout the week, such as viewing bed bugs under a microscope, designing your own dinosaur using Super Clay and even helping to create a huge T-Rex sculpture with professional artists Shirley Hudson.

25 - 26 October - Discovering the microscopic world

23 - 27 October - Create Super Clay Dinosaurs

28 - 31 October  - Colourful or Camouflaged - design a dinosaur

October 23 and 24, 30 and 31. Create a giant sculpture of The King of the Dinosaurs - T-Rex

York Castle Museum
By George! 
The tastes, flamboyance and the madness of the reign of King George III will be taking over York Castle Museum this half term to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his ascendancy to the throne.
Across the week a dodgy surgeon, an executioner, a posh butler and even the eccentric King George III himself will be walking around the castle telling fascinating tales from their lives.
On October 23 and 24 food historian Ivan Day will be practicing the arts of Georgian cooking in the Kitchen Studio - such as pie decorating, sugar work and spectacular jellies.

York Art Gallery

The Big Draw!
Head to York Art Gallery on October 25, 26 and 27 and create your own fantastic headwear inspired by the gallery's exhibition Hats. Or why not add your own artistic twist to the gallery's giant Quangle Wangle hat?
Or come in on the 28, 29 or 30 and draw or make a collage to create the characters for your very own fairytale. Then look at the beautiful illustrations in the new Once Upon a Time... exhibition.
A £1.00 charge per participant will be made for materials.
