Green Flag Award success for York's top green spaces

City of York Council is celebrating after the city's parks and open spaces have been awarded five Green Flag Awards.Green Flag Awards recognise and reward the best parks in the country, and this year have been awarded to Rowntree Park, West Bank Park, Glen Gardens, Clarence Gardens and Rawcliffe Country Park.
The sites were chosen by the judges with their excellent use of green space, well-maintained facilities and high standard of safety and security.
Rowntree Park was the first site in York to receive the award seven years ago and more and more green spaces reaching the standard each year.
Dave Meigh, Head of Parks of Open Spaces said "It's great to be awarded our fifth Green Flag for the city, which is testament to the hard work of all staff who help to maintain and enhance these sites as well as the hard work and enthusiasm of our partners throughout the community."
