The York Dungeon presents Halloween- Jack O'Lantern

30/09/2010

This October 15th -31st, the York Dungeon unearths the true, hellish roots of Halloween history as the city's Home of Halloween unleashes ‘Jack O' Lantern'.

This ghastly turnip headed ghoul was once a cruel man, who trapped the Devil at the top of a tree and made him swear never to take his soul into hell.

True to his word, when old Jack died the Devil refused to let Jack's soul enter hell, but threw him an ember from the fires of damnation to light his way through the eternal darkness of purgatory.

For centuries, Jack of the Lantern has wandered through the eternal darkness between Heaven and Hell with only his turnip lantern to light his way. *

Not this Halloween. The man damned by the Devil himself is back and hell bent on revenge.

Brave visitors will feel the blood freeze in their veins as they edge their way through Jack O Lantern's hell hole of a lair.

Covered in turnip lanterns with macabre grins and mocking eyes, visitors will need to keep their wits about them as Jack O' Lantern may pop up any time any place and out to scare anyone. . . to death.

Should visitors make their way successfully through Lanterns Jack's lair there's centuries of blood, gore and more to discover from the Dungeon's latest show: Witches: Burned Alive to terrors in the torture chamber to the pestilence of the plague.
