Big City Read Satisfies York's Chocolate Craving

Residents and visitors are in for a real treat over the next few weeks with a range of activities taking place to celebrate City of York Council's Big City Read - the internationally renowned Chocolat.by bestselling novelist Joanne Harris.
York's Grand Festival du Chocolat offers ‘Little Pretty Things', a chocolate making workshop at Explore Acomb Library Learning Centre on Thursday 26 August. Residents will get the opportunity to create their own chocolates, which they can then take home for family and friends to indulge in! They will go home with their treats beautifully wrapped like a real chocolatier to show off to family and friends or simply enjoy themselves.
Residents in the York area will also be given a taste of France in Explore York Library Learning Centre on Tuesday 24 August. The introduction to all things French will include a lesson in basic French to help you ask for tickets, book accommodation and order drinks whilst also learning about French culture.
There will also be an exciting opportunity to explore the world of Roald Dahl, the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, at Explore York on Saturday 11th September.Residents can drop in and watch a magician or have a go at making some of Dahl's culinary creations. There will also be a travelling zoo with mini beasts and even an opportunity to hold a tarantula should anyone be brave enough.
