Issued by Bedern Hall

Bedern Hall the historic venue York is offering an alternative Medieval version of Illuminating York at its Bangers and Beer by Candlelight event on Friday 28th October.

Bangers and Beer by Candlelight is part of the programme of events for the Illuminating York event now in its seventh year. The Hall was originally the 14th Century Dining Hall of the Vicars Choral of York Minster and in that period candlelight was the main method of illumination. For this event the Hall is to be set out with candlelight only for the evening when guests will experience the mood of Medieval York.

" "The history of York is the history of England" may be a truism but much of what we enjoy about the city today comes from its Medieval history which is often under stated. Our Bangers and Beer by Candlelight event underlines the Medieval heritage at a time when the modern lighting displays are in full glow around the City during Illuminating York and the local beer, cider and bangers & mash will make it even more authentic." comments Roger Lee of Time and Place Catering and who manages Bedern Hall for the Guilds of York.

Bangers and Beer by Candlelight starts at 7pm on Friday 28th October and includes a welcome drink, a tasting of five ciders and beers with a brief explanation of each one; Bangers & Mash supper. Tickets are £20 each.
