Pick up your trowel - It's National Gardening Week
12/01/2012
Whether you want to grow vegetables, flowers or make relaxing space outside, April is the ideal time to pick up your trowel and get gardening. As part of National Gardening Week Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens will be holding an Open Afternoon on the 18th April, when you are invited to visit the garden for free between 1pm and 5pm.
Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens has it all: beautiful perennial borders, a formal rill garden, woodland walk, wildflower meadow and a vegetable plot. It is managed in a sustainable way and is proud to be a haven for wildlife. Gardener Vanessa Cook will be on hand to answer questions about the garden and its plants. The coffee shop and plant nursery will both be open too.
National Gardening Week (16th to 22nd April) has been launched by The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the UK's leading gardening charity, to get the nation growing. Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens is an RHS recommended garden and is delighted to be part of the National Gardening Week and to help inspire people to garden.
The garden is open during the summer and runs a number of workshops throughout the year.

Notes:
Stillingfleet Lodge is a late 18th Century farmhouse surrounded by a series of contrasting gardens. Each garden is packed with texture and foliage densely planted for ease of maintenance based on cottage garden principles. The gardens have been lovingly created over a 30 year period and have been acclaimed as "One of the country's finest cottage gardens." By Gardener's World presenter Alys Fowler.
