Workshop of the World (Search Engine Gallery): 2 February- 31 May 2010Visit the latest exhibition in the Search Engine gallery - part of our new £4 million library and archive centre opened in 2008. Discover how Britain built the world's railways including the Indian railway network - the fourth largest in the world. Find out how railways were delivered to places with no rails and how obstacles like deserts, mountains, bush and jungle were overcome.

All the fun at the fair - until 21st February 2010
Enjoy the NRM'S fairground rides every weekend through until February half term! Why not go dizzy around the carousel and whizz down the helter skelter with friends!
The rides are available 10am to 5pm and a charge of £1.50 per person per ride applies.
Duchess of Hamilton ‘Streamlined' Exhibition - until 31st December 2010
Discover the magnificent Duchess of Hamilton restored to her streamlined form. The locomotive is a stunning piece of Art Deco opulence built in 1938 that wowed design critics on both sides of the Atlantic. The streamlined Duchess was a modern machine for a modern age and can now be viewed at the NRM as she takes pride of place in this new exhibition exploring the links between 1930s fashion, engineering and design.

Brief Encounters 26 November 2009 - 3rd January 2010
Enjoy a Brief Encounter this Christmas at the National Railway Museum! Experience the Museums famous Turntable transformed into a spectacular light installation in the Great Hall, enabling you to embark on journeys from cities and time zones around the world. Explore the relationship between time and distance through this amazing display of light, making a series of chance encounters on the way.
There will also be an array of festive family events and educational workshops taking place throughout the Christmas school holidays.
On the weekend of the 28th and 29th November and from 19th December to 3rd January inclusive, make your very own Turntable Clock between 11:00 and 16:00 in the Great Hall. Also on these dates enjoy our new show 'From Rocket to Bullet - the science of how trains move!' in the Learning Platform. The kids will also love 'Clickety Clack', our interactive railway story which explores the sounds of the train as it travels from London to Scotland (suitable for under 6s). There will be six events per day (10.45, 11.45, 12.45, 13.45, 14.45 and 15.45) throughout the week. Please refer to the daily diary at the admissions desk on your arrival for further information.

Christmas at the NRM 28 Nov 2009 - 3 Jan 2010
The NRM is glowing with Christmas spirit this year! Enjoy festive treats in the restaurant or pick up some perfect gifts for the whole family from our extensive range of books, games, models and DVD's. You can also visit the Thomas the Tank Engine Shop in the Great Hall where you are sure to find the ideal present for the little ones or why not enjoy a Right Royal Christmas with Platform 4.
Learning Activities

Between the Lines - NRM Lecture on Brief Encounters 9 Dec 2009
Join us for a talk by Kit Monkman, the artist behind our amazing light installation this Christmas! His previous work includes Flock which was based on Tchaikovskys Swan Lake and presented at Trafalgar Square, London. Kit will be talking about his work and inspirations.
Takes place at 14:00 in the Great Hall.

Stephenson Locomotive Society Centenary Celebrations 10th Dec 2009 - 5th Jan 2010
Take an insight into the Stephenson Locomotive Society as they celebrate their centenary with this special display in the Great Hall. This unique occasion will see Gladstone, 87001and Orion exhibited together at the Museum!
