Count Down to York Food and Drink Festival

Issued by: York Food and Drink Festival
With only a week to go, the Festival starts next Friday (17th) and it's all very exciting. Every year the Festival team are sure they couldn't possible have fit any more events into the programme and then they do just that the following year!
There has been a huge focus this year on encouraging Yorkshire Farmers and Producers to take stands in the market place. The Grazing Café has been introduced to highlight delicatessen and farm produce and then there's the Fountain Café!
A large marquee, built over the Fountain in Parliament Street will become the Fountain Café for 10 days. This will be run by ‘Made in Yorkshire' and will sell sandwiches and soups made from fresh Yorkshire produce alongside a whole range of early evening community activities (most of which are free events). Join the Team in the Fountain Café from 5pm daily to be entertained and enlightened.
Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: "York city centre will be buzzing with excitement for ten days solid as the York Food Festival promises to be the biggest and best yet.
"This year, the Festival will run continuously throughout the morning, noon and evening bringing people of all ages into the city to celebrate the very best that Yorkshire has to offer.
"Visitors can get their taste buds around a wealth of fine foods and drinks as well as enjoying the vast array of impressive markets, chef demonstrations, guest speakers, tasting workshops and street entertainment.
"York Food Festival is one of the key events in the region's calendar in showcasing the first-class range of local Yorkshire produce as well as helping to bring tourists into our county and keeping Yorkshire as the number one holiday destination in the UK."
