News Release - Issued by Rockin’ Horse Promotions
York’s annual firework spectacular, recognised as one of the top ten firework displays in the UK¹, is set to combine the best of Halloween and bonfire night this year, against the backdrop of an illuminated Castle Howard, its new venue for 2014.
Taking place on Saturday, 1 November, Kaboom at Castle Howard will coincide with the finale of the Illuminating York Festival. Kaboom’s world class pyro-technicians will present a dazzling firework display in the grounds of the stately home, synchronised to a specially themed music track that takes inspiration from the supernatural movie blockbuster, ‘Ghostbusters’, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. A special outdoor cinema style screening of the Ghostbusters movie on the night will also delight fans of the film.
‘Kaboom’, www.kaboomyork.com, which was previously presented at York’s Rawcliffe Country Park, is expected to attract thousands of people to the ‘must see’ event. This year’s show at Castle Howard will feature a programme of family entertainment including freaky fire-glow jugglers, a spooky Sparkler Park for children, spine tingling story-telling for junior ghostbusters, pumpkin carving and many more ghoulish goings-on including headless horsemen and the ghost of Guy Fawkes. There will also be a ‘Fright Night’ funfair and the chance to tuck into traditional Halloween and bonfire night goodies.
Mark Brayshaw, managing director of York based Rockin’ Horse Promotions, organisers of the event, said: ‘We’re highlighting the Boo in Kaboom this year, bringing together the best of Halloween and bonfire night into one fantastic, super-spooky, and explosive big bang of an event. As the birthplace of Guy Fawkes, it is fitting that York marks its connections to the famous conspirator, and the awe-inspiring setting of Castle Howard is sure to be a success."
Katie Pryor, head of events at Castle Howard comments: "We're thrilled to host such a spectacle of an event at Castle Howard for the very first time. Not only will the house facade be illuminated with coloured light projections, but it will become the historic backdrop for a blaze of fabulous fireworks. Visitors can expect both a sparkling and spooky line-up of entertainment for all the family to celebrate Halloween and bonfire night combined."
Tickets are priced at £12.50 for adults and £10.00 for children, under-16s, students and senior citizens. A limited offer £25.00 family ticket includes 2 adults and up to 3 children. Tickets can be purchased in advance via www.kaboomyork.com or www.castlehoward.co.uk and at the Visit York Information Centre, Museum Street, York. Free parking will be provided at the event. Dedicated transport from York city centre to Castle Howard will also be available.
