From Yorkshire with Love
Heart-warming special effects at York’s firework show

Love is in the air at Castle Howard this Halloween as organizers of Kaboom, the spectacular firework display taking place at the stately home on Saturday, 31st October, plan to fill the Yorkshire sky with giant shimmering red love hearts.

The special effect is made possible by using advanced pyrotechnics. Hundreds of firework charges will create the hearts as they explode and pulse in the night sky against the backdrop of an illuminated Castle Howard in a firework first for the event.

Kaboom is recognized as one of the top displays in the UK and is synchronized to a stirring medley of Bond theme tunes with the fireworks and special effects carefully choreographed to reflect the music. The love hearts will appear to the tune ‘From Russia With Love’.

Commented event organiser, Mark Brayshaw: “Alongside the thrill and noise of some of the other effects which take inspiration from the 007 films it will be a unique moment. Halloween might not at first seem the most romantic of evenings but this effect will bring a very special atmosphere to the show. Combined with the drama of the music and against the illuminated Castle Howard, the effect will be stunning.”

Around 10,000 people are expected to attend the display which celebrates the best of Halloween and bonfire night in the grounds of the stately home, with visitors having already bought tickets coming from as far afield as New York and Russia. The movie themed event also features exclusive outdoor cinema screenings of the 80s sci-fi comic adventure film Back to the Future, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and Toy Story, celebrating its 20th anniversary.
A programme of family entertainment includes ‘Chills and Thrills’ activities such as spooky storytelling and pumpkin carving as well as fire-glow jugglers, a traditional vintage funfair, Sparkler Park for safe fun with sparklers, and seasonal Halloween and bonfire night food.

Tickets are priced at £15.00 for adults and £10.00 for children, under 16s, students and senior citizens. A £35.00 family ticket includes 2 adults and 2 children. Tickets can be purchased in advance via www.kaboomyork.com or www.castlehoward.co.uk and at the Visit York Information Centre, Museum Street, York. Free parking will be provided at the event. Dedicated transport from York city centre and from Malton to Castle Howard will also be available. Gates open 4.30pm. Fireworks start at 8.00pm.
