York’s CHOCOLATE Story: Events Listings: January – March

Valentine’s Day: Keep your loved one sweet this year
Friday, February 14th, 6pm – 8pm

York’s CHOCOLATE Story is offering loved-ones the perfect opportunity to impress this Valentine’s Day in a unique event for couples. In a romance filled evening, couples will be taught how to master the fine art of chocolate-tasting, experiencing tantalising chocolate-making demonstrations and try their hand at making their very own heart-shaped chocolate box to take away for their loved one.

Throughout the week guests on the tour will also be able to sample a range of romantic handmade chocolates created by York’s CHOCOLATE Story’s expert chocolatiers. Perfect for those looking to treat their loved-one to something extra special this Valentine’s Day, the enchanting chocolates will all be available in the attractions shop in the run up to the big day.

Tickets for Friday 14th February’s evening event cost £30 per couple, including a glass of Prosecco each and the handmade chocolate box packed with Valentine’s Day chocolates to take away.

February Half Term: Only Smarties have the answer!
Saturday 15 – Sunday 23 February

This half term, York’s CHOCOLATE Story will be paying homage to the city’s most colourful sweet and one of Britain’s best loved brands – Smarties! In September 2013 a poll of over 5,000 people voted Smarties the nation’s favourite sweet brand, from the many developed and produced in York - the UK’s home of chocolate.

Visitors will be able to get hands on and learn more about the world famous Smarties brand, which was created in York over 70 years ago. There will be a chance to take the Smarties themed trail and discover some fascinating facts about the brand during the guided tour as well as making and decorating a chocolate bar with Smarties.

Guests will also be able to put their dexterity and speed to a test over the weekends and attempt smash the world record for the fastest time to sort 30 coloured Smarties using only chopsticks. The current Guinness World Record stands at an incredible 31.5 seconds and is held by Yinger Guan of China.

Mothering Sunday: Mother’s go free!
Sunday 30th March

York’s CHOCOLATE Story will be celebrating Mother’s Day with free entry to the attraction for all Mothers!*

A visit to the attraction is the perfect way to treat mum and get into the good books this year! Avoid the usual flowers and take your mother on an entertaining and informative tour of York’s greatest chocolate creations.

Visitors will be able to watch the attraction’s team of chocolatiers will be creating a special range of chocolates specifically for mum’s, in the production kitchen. They’ll even be a chance for visitors to get hands on and create their own chocolate bar to take home for mum!

*Free entry will be provided to all Mother’s when brining a fully paid member of their family.

Story Zone - the journey begins thousands of years ago in the rainforests of Central America and continues through the history of chocolate’s founding families and the fascinating facts behind their finest creations.

Factory Zone - learn how a simple cocoa bean is transformed into the finest chocolate, and take a look at the history of York’s most iconic chocolate brands. Then master the secrets of the chocolatier, as you create hand-made chocolates for yourself, before seeing how the experts do it.

The Indulgence Zone - put new knowledge into practice and choose from a selection of chocolate drinks and treats in the Chocolate Café and Shop.
