Experience York from a Completely Different Perspective!

Canadian Canoe Trips on the River Foss and River Ouse

North Yorkshire-based The Activities Group has partnered with York’s Novotel on Fishergate to bring residents and tourists of the city a completely new way to see the sights of York – from a canoe!

The River Foss runs just behind the Novotel and provides the perfect, traffic free, route into York. Visitors will be able to choose from a one hour experience or a half day journey which will take them from The Novotel, York on the River Foss – into the River Ouse and to Rowntree Park where the paddlers will enjoy a picnic supplied by the Novotel . All trips will be guided and instruction provided by a qualified instructor from The Activities Group.

Travelling by canoe is the perfect way to relax and enjoy the breath-taking views that are often missed when walking or driving around the city. Seeing the beautiful city from the river will cast a whole new perspective on the city, combined with using your own “paddle-power” to get round means that this truly is a unique experience.

Said Spencer McLeod, Principal Instructor, The Activities Group: “Working with the Novotel has provided a brilliant opportunity for us to bring our adventurous activities into the City of York. We think that our Canadian Canoe trips are ideal for people looking to do something different whilst in the city centre.”
“Canadian Canoes offer a fun and safe way of travel, for adults and children, all equipment will be supplied and we will provide full briefing and instruction before departure”.

The Canoe trips start on Monday 24th May and will run throughout the summer months. To book call 0800 0588 344 or go to to book online.
