This February half term, get out and about nature exploring at this National Trust estate near Ripon.
Roll up your sleeves and book to get involved in bird box making with a hands-on family workshop, £5 per box. You’ll be making homes for wild feathered friends such as bluetits and chiffchaffs. Booking essential, please call 01765 643189 to book.
If you’ve got a taste for adventure, head out into the landscape to find a geocache on a digital treasure hunt, just call ahead and reserve one of 6 GPS units from the visitor centre.
Any day of the week during February half term you can grab your wellies and hit the trail to follow clues around the estate. Become a bird detective as you search in the abbey and garden to discover some of the birds that call Fountains home and there’s a shorter version for little legs too.
Get crafty in Swanley Grange workshop and create some beautiful birds and your own fluttery feathery bird to take home.
Wrap up warm for winter walks in the fresh air and see one of the finest displays of snowdrops in Yorkshire. There are binoculars to borrow in the bird hide to watch goldfinches and woodpeckers flocking to the feeders.
With acres of countryside to explore, woodland play area, paths and walks, the whole family can get out and about at Fountains Abbey this February half term.
