How to get to York
By car
York is situated only 20 minutes from the M1/M62 motorway network. If you are travelling north on the M1 or A1, you will come to the new intersection with the A64, only 15 minutes away from the city via dual carriageway. If you are travelling south on the A1, you will also leave the motorway at the A64 intersection. If you are travelling from the west on the M62, join the M1 northbound until you reach the intersection with the A64. York is also served by the A19, A1079 and A166 routes into the city. Frequent Park and Ride bus services operate into the city centre from sites adjacent to the A64, A19, A1079, A1036 and A166.
By train
York is on the East Coast mainline. It takes less than two hours to get to York from London. Trains go every half an hour with at least 25 direct trains each weekday. Direct rail services also run from York to many of the UK’s main regional centres. York can be reached the same morning from all the following centres: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Liverpool. By air

Hull is the nearest port for European ferry services and it is only 1-hour drive to York. P&O North Sea ferries have daily overnight services Rotterdam and Zeebrugge to Hull.
