Register Office
The Bootham Suite provides a purpose-built setting which has been refurbished in a style sympathetic to the building's Georgian architecture. Couples have the choice of two room settings - either the intimate and less formal registrar's office which accommodates up to eight people or, for larger parties, a spacious reception room that seats 50 people comfortably with additional standing room. This can also be adapted to suit smaller parties and is entirely accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs.
Tastefully decorated, the larger room combines classic style and furniture with modern technology. Features include a York stone floor with traditional red carpeted aisle and a glass roof and French windows opening out onto landscaped gardens providing the perfect backdrop for photographs.

Most importantly, we can tailor your day to suit your needs. Walk down the aisle to music of your choice, customise your ceremony with poems and readings or enrich the occasion by composing your own vows. Involve those most dear to you by having them give away the bride or bring forward the rings. We will happily personalise the format and content of the ceremony to suit you as long as any changes comply with the legal restrictions which do not allow any religious reference.
Alternatively, there is a large variety of charming venues in York that are licensed to hold civil ceremonies. See more of the venues along with some general guidance and information on how to book your ceremony.
