York Cycling City Races  - 18/08/2011

The historical city of York is gaining popularity and a name for itself for being a City which is "cyclist friendly", so much so that York is in second place and just below Cambridge in relation to the number of city residents who cycle in the locality, which is a lot of cyclists!

Currently there has never been a better time for cycling around the city of York, as there are more dedicated cycle trails, cycle tracks, guided cycle rides and places to hire a bike than ever before, so even if you are on holiday or a fair weather cyclist, you can explore York on two wheels easily.

On Sunday the 21st of August the second annual "York Cycling City Races" takes place and is organised by the Clifton Cycling Club in partnership with British Cycling, City of York Council and a selection of other local businesses. The summary of event proceedings will consist of a York business Brompton cycle race, which is then followed by amateur and elite races with riders from across the UK. The events will start in Duncombe Place from 16:30 with the main races starting at 17:00 until 20:15. The event should appeal to spectators of all ages, with some exciting cycling action in store.
