York Birds Of Prey at Coppergate Square - 08/08/2011
The York's bird of prey display features a collection of beautiful birds of prey, which includes; a ten-year-old little owl called "Gizmo", a young barn owl called "Sky" and a big European Eagle Owl called "Henrietta".
The Eagle Owl is a large and powerful bird, smaller than the Golden Eagle but larger than the Snowy Owl. In comparison a European Eagle Owl can weigh between 1 ½ to over 8 times more than a regular barn owl when they are fully grown. This is a real experience for a family day out, as anyone can hold one of the birds and purchase a picture to take home as proof of them posing with one of these spectacular birds.
The falconer will be present introduce the birds and provide guidance on their handling techniques, as well as answering any questions and amaze onlookers with fascinating facts and information about these beautiful birds. The birds of Prey display is running daily from 10 - 6 pm through August and September.
