Peter Pan at the York Theatre Royal  - 22/07/2011

Between now and early September the critically acclaimed performance of the well known theatre production of Peter Pan is currently being staged at York Theatre Royal for the remainder the school holidays.

The Peter Pan play is based on the original play and book created by Scottish novelist and playwright "J. M. Barrie" which Barrie originally debuted as a stage play back in 1904. The play was later adapted and expanded as a novel and published in 1911, titled as "Peter and Wendy" and later as Peter Pan.

Peter Pan is mischievous boy who can fly and magically refuses to grow up; he spends his never-ending childhood adventuring on the small island of "Neverland" as the leader of his gang the Lost Boys. The story has many other characters including; mermaids, fairies, Indians, crocodiles, pirates, and many more.

The Peter Pan production at the York Theatre Royal is a new adaptation by Mike Kenny and is directed by Damian Cruden. In this play Mike Kenny has kept the plot simple, giving it a little extra sparkle and soul, whilst making a faithful recreation of the beloved tale that is still effective on all levels and has the right balance of humour, action and drama to thrill children and adults alike.

Lastly all of the performing rights / royalties from this show will go to the charity the "Great Ormond Street Hospital". So come along to the York Theatre Royal, see a great show and support a good cause.
