A York Christmas
A stroll through York at Christmas is a magical experience.
Narrow cobbled streets, medieval buildings and the York Minster create a magical setting for a unique Christmas experience! All this, matched with a programme of colourful events make York the ideal destination this Christmas.
York kick starts its Christmas celebrations on Thursday 19th November this year with an evening of family fun and late night shopping.
The city will sparkle with light, there'll be a beautifully fairy lit Christmas tree in St Helen's Square and a stunning angel ice sculpture will stand in St Sampson's Square, giving visitors and residents a look at what's in store at the annual Festival of Angels (12 - 13 December).
York Ambassador 2009 Berwick Kaler says:
York is a magical place to be at Christmas.
We may not have the sun but we do have more fun than anywhere else in the country.
I hope the York Theatre Royal Pantomime plays a big part in creating this great festive atmosphere for both residents and visitors alike.
