The tramway mysteriously disappears into a high brick wall behind which is an industrial estate. This was formerly part of Fulford Barracks which included a military hospital and a large store of equipment. The goods and supplies for the barracks were supplied by ship from the Woolwich Arsenal in London located on the River Thames. The tramway was then used to transport the deliveries to the barracks. There was a little wharf built in 1888, of which no trace remains, however, the tramway which was used to transport goods is still visible. |
