A major landmark on the York skyline, the Yorkshire Wheel is 60 metres tall and cost £3 million to construct. The computerised control system cost £1 million. It has 42 viewing pods each seating six adults and two children. The installation can be broken down into 24 container loads taking two to three weeks to erect or dismantle. The Yorkshire Wheel provides staggering views of the City and the surrounding countryside, and will be in place until at least 2009. It sits outside the National Railway Museum, part of the National Museum of Science and Industry.
