Noah's Flood in Stonegate in 1966
Although we cannot
say for certain which door was Adam del Briggs’, his house may have
looked something like Mulberry Hall, which was constructed in the 1450’s
and enlarged in the 1500’s. Wagons with tall staging had to keep
to the middle, to avoid banging into buildings with overhanging upper
storeys.
Perhaps as many as one in twenty of the population were directly involved
in the plays, and so the audience was sure to know at least a few of the
cast. Just like Christmas today, Corpus Christi was a chance for everyone
to get together and eat, drink and be merry. Those who could not afford
seating would stand or watch from windows to see the plays, spot their
friends and enjoy the festivities.
