York Art Gallery Re-opens

Following an £8 million transformation

Event organisers looking for a new space in York will be able to host drinks receptions for delegates at the all-new York Art Gallery, which, after an £8 million transformation, re-opened its doors on 1 August – Yorkshire Day.

Full details of the corporate offering are yet to be released, but the event space is set to be bigger than before and clients will be able to network among works by LS Lowry and David Hockney, plus York’s most famous artist, William Etty. The Grade II-listed building will have 60 per cent more exhibition space, and the original Victorian roof area will house CoCA, the Centre of Ceramic Art, which is a national arts hub dedicated to the medium.

Other new additions include the galleries on the first floor and the Artists’ Garden.
