In April 2017 the Talbot Hotel in Malton will be opening its new event venue called York House.
In 2016, the Malton Estate started work on the first phase of renovations of the 300 year old building, which is located immediately next door to the Talbot Hotel. The first phase includes refurbishment of the ground floor for drinks receptions, plus the installation of a semi-permanent marquee on the South terrace lawn for dinners of up to 150 guests.
Due to the grandeur of the building’s historic interiors, plus the capacity of the marquee, we anticipate York House becoming one of the most sought after wedding venues in Yorkshire. The venue is already in demand, with several weddings already booked. Showrounds of the hotel, venue and grounds can be organised by contacting the hotel.
The second phase will be to build a permanent banqueting hall in the space between the Talbot Hotel and York House, and 8 additional hotel bedrooms on the first and second floors of York House.
David Macdonald, General Manager of the Talbot Hotel, said there is more demand for weddings than the Talbot Hotel can satisfy at the moment. “We have everything we need to hold more weddings at the Talbot except for the space. A wedding venue at York House will be the perfect way to grow the business. To have a venue right next door in such a lovely building with gardens down to the river will be perfect.”
