Work progresses on transformation of City Centre hotel

The Park Inn by Radisson York City Centre invests a further £800,000 on product enhancement

The Park Inn by Radisson York City Centre hotel announces the third phase of a long-term investment project to completely transform the look and feel of the property. The hotel, which has previously invested millions of pounds in upgrading all 200 guest bedrooms, is now well underway with a project to transform the look and feel of the lobby, bar and meeting space.

As part of this £800,000 refurbishment programme, the hotel’s lobby area is now sporting a modern, contemporary look. The traditional reception desk has been replaced with modern satellite desks, completely opening out the space to maximize the stunning river views for guests on arrival. The hotel’s main entrance has also been refreshed, with a new canopy and lighting used to further enhance the arrival experience. The interiors have been inspired by the city of York, with the colour tones and materials used influenced by York stone and the city’s cobblestones. The lounge area has been updated with an eclectic collection of chairs in warm colours.

“We’re thrilled with the new look lobby, the space has been completely transformed, it’s modern yet comfortable with a view you just can’t beat!” says Sally Hughes, General Manager of the Park Inn by Radisson York City Centre.

The recently completed lobby areas is just one element of the phase 3 project, scheduled to complete by the end of March – additional work is currently underway on the upstairs bar area, while a soft refurbishment of the hotel’s meeting rooms and the installation of a conference cafe, is also ongoing.

“It’s very much a work in progress so it’s really a case of watch this space for now but it is a really exciting project and having seen the plans, I think we’re going to pleasantly surprise one or two people when we re-open the bar – it looks really great” Hughes added.

The Park Inn by Radisson York opened in 2006 and has since undergone a significant refurbishment programme. In 2009, 126 guest bedrooms were completely refurbished as part of a £4.8 million investment programme. In 2011, a further £1.7 million was spent to renovate the remaining 74 bedrooms which completed in May 2012, adding new decor, furniture and soft furnishings in both the bedrooms and bathrooms.

Located in the heart of York alongside the River Ouse, just 5 minutes from York station and with easy access from major motorways, the Park Inn by Radisson York is superbly located for both business and leisure travellers.
