Details
Welcome to Low Penhowe!
We have recently been awarded Yorkshire's Best B&B by Welcome to Yorkshire and by Visit York. We have also been awarded the Breakfast in Yorkshire by Deliciously Yorkshire. What more would any guest want!
Anyone visiting Low Penhowe Bed and Breakfast can be assured of a warm welcome and a truly comfortable stay.
‘Low Penhowe’ is old Yorkshire dialect for ‘the sheep pen on a hill’. The house was described as “a very elegant home” by VisitBritain, which has awarded owners Philippa and Christopher Turner 5 Stars and the Gold award for their outstanding Yorkshire B&B.
A traditional Yorkshire stone-built farmhouse, with stunning views overlooking the Howardian Hills, Yorkshire Wolds and across to the North Yorkshire Moors, the house makes an idyllic spot for a quiet few nights away.
Low Penhowe is also the perfect location for anyone wishing to enter into the hustle and bustle of York, while enjoying the peace and tranquillity of rural England.
At Low Penhowe we pride ourselves on the excellence of our Aga cooked breakfasts, offering a variety of local and homemade produce. If it’s not home grown, home made, home baked, home cooked then it will be sourced locally and always within Yorkshire!
Enjoy a selection of our own free-range eggs, and from our Malton butcher, locally cured bacon, black pudding and sausages. Even the tomatoes and mushrooms are all sourced locally. As an alternative our guests are able to enjoy kippers and smoked salmon from Harrogate and of course our home roasted York ham. To finish off your breakfast we offer homemade marmalade and jams, home baked bread and honey from village farms.
