Enjoy a leisurely hour exploring York from the helm of your own self drive motor boat! Fantastic fun, safe and easy to drive - seating up to eight people. There are 14 boats altogether in the fleet. Why not bring a picnic to enjoy along the way?

Terms and Conditions:
The hirer MUST be 18 years or over, you may be asked to provide ID.
The hire MUST NOT be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Maximum of 8 people per boat.
All children under the age of 10 MUST wear a life jacket.
The hirer MUST read and abide by the RULES OF THE RIVER, which are displayed on board.
The hourly charge and security deposit MUST be paid in full by cash before the boat is let.
YorkBoat (operators of RedBoat) reserve the right to refuse to hire a Red Boat to anyone deemed likely to breach the terms of hire. All male or all female parties may be refused hire.
The hire will be terminated if customer behaviour is seen to be/reported to be unacceptable.

Part or all of the deposit will be retained if:
• The boat is more than 10 minutes late returning to the landing (unless the hirer can satisfy the Red Boat Staff that there is a valid reason).
• The boat is excessively dirty and requires more than 5 minutes cleaning.
• The boat is damaged in any way.
(Please note that YorkBoat reserve the right to refuse single sex groups/hen and stag parties)

Available to hire every day from 9.45am from 1st April to 5th November 2017. Closing times may vary, subject to weather and demand.


Seasonal prices from £25-£40 per hour plus a returnable security bond. Cheaper rates available for Half hour hires.

Early bird prices often available from 9:45AM to 11AM - please call for more details.

By Rail:
Turn left out of the station, follow the road under the City Walls. Walk straight ahead onto Rougier Street, turn left at the T Junction onto Bridge Street. Walk across Ouse Bridge. The landing is down the steps on the right hand side of the bridge, near the King's Arms Pub.

By Road:
York has good road links from the A1 via the A59, A64 and A19. Simply follow the signs for the city centre, signposted from the A1237 Outer Ring Road & A64 Bypass.
