Join us for our Mystery on the Rails season to uncover the special place railways have in mystery and detective fiction, solve the mystery of The Missing Passenger and discover a wealth of real-life tales of audacious robberies, petty thefts and notorious criminals.

Are you ready to unleash your inner detective? Our full season of sleuthing activities runs until 3 September. Join us for fun activities using codes, clues and your detective skills to find out if you could help the police capture a fugitive. Get hands on with our pop-up activities and write your own crime story, catch a criminal and discover more about the science of detection.

    On foot: It's a 10 minute walk to the museum from the centre of town, and the route is well signposted. But for a quicker, more convenient route from the city centre why not catch the Road Train which runs from the museum's entrance to York Minster.

    By Road: The museum is clearly signposted from all approaches to the city. The visitor car park is on Leeman Road (£9 per day). Accessible parking is free, and available outside the museum's City Entrance.
