Workshop/Course, from 30 Sep 2017

Established in 1883 in Paris, the Alliance Française was the first organisation to teach French around the world. Today it is the largest collection of French teaching associations with over 1,000 schools in 138 countries.

Its aim is to promote and widen access to French language and culture and to encourage a friendly dialogue between cultures through education and cultural exchanges. In the UK, courses, social and cultural events are offered through a well-established network of 10 sister Alliances and about 50 French clubs. Our York branch was established in 1994. We are a non-profit, self-financed Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) offering a cultural programme of talks and events in French as well as language classes taught exclusively by native French tutors. Join our growing membership, meet other Francophiles, perfect your French, come to our regular events and special celebrations, and put some French va-va-voum into your life!

As part of ‘York 50+ Festival’ we are offering several language taster sessions for those who are considering taking on a new challenge and learn French. There sessions, depending on the level chosen, will cover very basic ‘French for the holidays’ or ‘Discussion and debate in French on current topics’.
