Explore the Lavender Inspired Goods

Barley Hall's Courtyard Gift Shop is stocked full of lavender-infused and inspired products this summer.

Visit Barley Hall this summer and discover York’s hidden medieval gem transformed into an oasis of calm, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the restorative qualities of lavender.

For centuries the lavender flower has been prized, particularly in the medieval period when monastic healers and wise women believed it was an important ingredient in healing remedies, and this summer you can experience the soothing scent in every room of the 14th century townhouse as they are adorned with extraordinary floral decorations. These beautiful and unique installations have been specially created to commemorate the charm and virtue of this prized and celebrated flower.

And it’s not just the Hall that has been transformed; the Courtyard Gift Shop now stocks a new range of lavender-infused products inspired by the knowledge of the Middle Ages, so you can take the relaxing medieval experience home.
