Travel and Parking information
If you are visiting York over the weekend of the 5th and 6th July, please ensure you plan your travel carefully.
City of York Council is encouraging residents and visitors to plan travel carefully for the weekend of 5 and 6 July. Stage two of Le Grand Depart will see riders setting off from York Racecourse at approximately 11am and road closure will begin at 4am.

- Park & Ride sites will be offering a weekday service on Sunday 6th July and will be open from 6am, with the last buses leaving the city centre at 8pm.
- Trains will be offering a weekday service
- There will be enhanced cycle parking at the railway station over the weekend.

(If you park in Marygate for example before the road closures are in place, you will not be able to leave the car park until roads re-open, so please plan ahead for your business and thanks for your help in advising visitors).
It will not be possible to drive along or across the route from 4am on Sunday 6th July until approximately 1.30pm, or as soon as possible after the riders have left York.
During this time there will be no access for vehicles to properties on the race route itself or to streets connected to the route which cannot be accessed from elsewhere. No parking will be permitted on the route.
Anyone who is planning to travel on 6th July between 4am and 1.30pm will need to ensure that they have parked their vehicle in an area where they can access the remaining open road access.
From 10.30am on Saturday 5th July – there will be no vehicular access into pedestrian zones – including blue badge holders and taxis.
These restrictions will then be lifted again between 5pm and 7pm for normal access and deliveries. All traffic restrictions will be lifted some time after 1.30pm on 6th July.
